The Salton Sea

I did this editorial shoot for 125 Magazine, which is a artsy fashion mag based in the UK. We traveled a few hours outside of LA to the Salton Sea, which is about an hour south of Palm Springs. It was a very creepy yet beautfiul location. The area around this inland sea was abandoned years ago and all that's left are some decrepid rundown trailers and shacks. The sand is made of crushed fish bones and there's 1,000's of dead fish everywhere! As disgusting as it was, the sky and the sunset was so gorgeous, the cloud formations, the colors, the way the light hits the water and the surrounding moutnains looked almost like water color paintings. The theme was Native American meets European settler, and I was the Native so I got to be painted 10 shades darker and got bright tribal paint around my face, pretty intense. Here's some candid shots I took behind the scenes!
